Althea BMW Racing Team look forward to Pirelli Spanish Round

With the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship preparing for the final European round of the season, Jordi Torres (Althea BMW Racing Team) is getting ready to impress in front of his home fans, whilst team-mate Raffaele De Rosa (Althea BMW Racing Team) looks forward to returning to a track he enjoys.

Spanish rider Torres has been pushing to improve with his S 1000 R machine this season, on top of keeping up high levels of fitness and he hopes to improve on his pace of last year. Taking two eighth position finishes around the circuit last season, he has also seen success at the track in the WorldSBK class – finishing on the podium back in 2015. The 30 year old will be pushing until the final lap to put on a great show for his home fans.

Torres explains his motivations ahead of the weekend:  "I really want to do well in front of my Spanish fans of course, improving on last year’s less than fantastic results. We need to continue to work hard right to the end, also because I can still improve my position in the overall standings, so I hope for two good races ‘at home’, in which I score as many points as possible.”

Italian De Rosa secured the STK1000 title at the circuit last season, so it holds some positive memories for the 30 year old. Despite a strong finish last season, he has struggled around the circuit in the past but as he continues to learn and understand the BMW S 1000 R, he will hope to secure a season’s best finish in the penultimate round of the season.

De Rosa explains: “We head to Jerez now, a track where I’ve raced many times. I can’t wait to get started. I know they’ve resurfaced the track though, so we need to see how that it, what kind of grip it offers and which tyres we’ll have to use. There was some improvement at Magny-Cours and so I hope we can continue to move in that direction, to close the season as well as possible…”

Keep up with all the on track action from the Althea BMW Racing Team as they take on the Circuito de Jerez, all on the WorldSBK VideoPass.
